Son in Coma Doesn't Know Dad Died. When Mom Asks 'Do You Know Where Daddy is?' - His Response Shook Her to Her Core!
Sometimes, we come across some stories that take our heart away. They are so sensitive that even though we didn't experience it, we feel the pain as we can relate to it.
Julie Kemp's story is just like that. In the summer of 1997, Julie Kemp, her husband, Andy, and their 8-year-old son, Landon, were heading home when the unimaginable happened.
That day, the entire family was heading home from church when an ambulance returning back to its station crashed into their car at an intersection. "I didn't see what he was yelling at. I didn't see the ambulance coming, but I remembered him yelling. That was the last thing I heard from him," Julie said about her husband.
Now all Julie had was her son. Her son Landon was sitting behind the driver's seat and that is where the collision occurred. "They couldn't see his body because of the damage that was done to the driver's side of the car and Landon was sitting behind his dad," Julie said.
They first found his shoe and then his body. Landon was resuscitated and life flighted to Carolinas Medical Center in North Carolina, but his fight was far from over. He died at least twice that day. These were tensed moments for Julie.
The doctors told Julie that the likelihood of him surviving was extremely low. Even if he did, he would have had the mind of an 8-year-old baby who would be unable to walk, talk or eat due to the severe brain damage that occurred. This obviously broke her heart.
“I was so desperate that, that was okay. I would take that just to have him. He was all that I had,” Julie said. It was her husbands funeral and Julie felt really helpless and alone.
“And while I’m sitting at the funeral, I’m fussing at God. I don’t understand why this happened. I don’t understand why he didn’t send angels to protect us, but in the very next breath I’m praying as hard to Him as I’ve ever prayed in my life for Landon to live,” Julie continued. But then something happened.
Two weeks later, Landon woke up from the coma and opened his eyes. To the doctors' disbelief, Landon suffered no brain damage. It was a miracle! "He had scars on his face and his head was full of hurt and I didn't want to hurt him anymore," Julie said.
Julie asked her son, "Do you know where your dad is at?" His reply? "Yes, I know where he's at. I saw him in Heaven." “Jesus came to me and told me that I have to go back to earth and be a good Christian and tell others about him,” he further said.
Today, Landon is all grown up. He's big. He says, “I know I’m doing it for Jesus. I know that he’s real. I know that angels are there. I know that there’s a Heaven. I’m not doing it for someone I don’t know or that I’ve never seen. I’ve seen Jesus. I know he’s there. He’s asked me to do this and this is what I’m doing.” Here's the interview.
